GERMAN PERLE

Brewing Quality Perle is generally perceived as an excellent aroma hop, with characteristics as good as those of Hallertau Mittlefruh but with a higher Alpha Acid content and better yield. Storageability is good to very good.
Origin/History This variety was bred at the Hop Research Institute in Hüll, Germany and released in 1978.
Agronomics This high yielding aroma variety is popular with growers, thanks to its good resistance to disease. It has a good to very good resistance to Verticillium Wilt and Peronospora and average to Powdery Mildew. It is grown in the Hallertau, Spalt, Hersbruck and Baden-Bitburg-Rheinpfalz areas of Southern Germany.
Organic Status Organic Organic production is well established with a small number of growers, but yield is variable. The crop is pelleted soon after harvest, and therefore any whole hop requirements need to be specified by October at the latest each year.
