Charles Faram & Co Ltd News - Summer 2006

Looking for new recipe ideas? - "NEW" varieties now in stock

CASCADE UK Alpha 6.5%
Flavour intensity 9 - Suggested late hop rate 300-400g per barrel (1.63hl)

Not new we hear you say! Well this Cascade is grown in the UK; near Canterbury in fact and those looking to support home grown varieties whilst still achieving American style flavours, now can with this Kent grown Cascade. Please come early though as only limited stocks are available!

LUBELSKI (Lublin) Poland Alpha 3.4%
Flavour intensity 4 - Suggested late hop rate 600-700g per barrel (1.63hl)

Polish Hops on the Cooling Floor waiting to be baledPoland has been producing hops for many years. Not new either we hear you say! And you would be quite right but it is new to Faram’s. Although Lubelski has been grown since 1964 it has only been tried in small quantities in the UK. Flavours somewhere between a Styrian Golding and a Saaz, we are told, but we are looking for more information so if you would like to give it a try please give us a call.

MARYNKA Poland Alpha 6.8%
Flavour intensity 6 - Suggested late hop rate 500-600g per barrel (1.63hl)

The Polish family who have grown the "new" hops.Another Polish delicacy to try! From the same farm as our Lubelski the Marynka variety was first introduced in 1988. The variety was put through brewing trials in the UK in 2003 and was found to have very distinctive refreshing spicy characteristics. Definitely one to try for the hoppier beers!

So if you are looking for something a little different give us a call today, and remember, only limited stocks of these specialist varieties are available so call early to avoid disappointment.

** Please note our hop rate suggestions will give your beer a “hoppy” character and are not recommended for beers looking for a malty flavour. **
